I will share with you the best practices for increasing your visibility and earning money on Redbubble.

How to Get Noticed on Redbubble

Getting noticed on Redbubble means, you are getting more exposure, more authority in your niche and you are attracting more customers. There are a few tricks you should use if you want to get your art ranking better. In my experience, these are the best things you can do.

Niche Down

Redbubble has an excellent range of products and designs, so it is important that you figure out what you would like to sell and make sure that you select the right niche.

You can find niche ideas on their website, but it is important to understand the difference between a general niche and a long-tail keyword niche.

A general niche is one that has many products categorized under it. For example, “dog” is a general niche.

A long-tail keyword niche has a smaller number of products but is more specific, for example, “blue dog” is a long-tail keyword niche.

But you shouldn’t stop here. If you are starting in any place with huge competition, you should always find a niche with low competition.

This technique is called in the SEO world as niching down.

This simply means, you are finding a niche with moderate or low competition, and start designing around this niche.

To continue with the example of a dog, niching down will mean going for the breeds of dogs, for example, blue german shepherd, and you can go further and make designs only with blue german shepherd puppies.

You will create tens of designs around this niche, and then you can expand to other dog breeds.

With this simple strategy, you can get a lot more exposure from potential customers who may not have liked the first design and you can also become an authority in a certain niche.

Practice Your Skills

The best way to get your work on Redbubble is to get started. It sounds simple, but creating and uploading your first design is an important step. You can learn a lot not only about designing for Redbubble, but you will also learn all the important things with your listings.

We all know that it is hard to find your own design style. You are not sure if the designs you are creating are good or bad.

Once you upload them to the platform and get feedback, your skills will improve, you will know which designs were liked by other designers on the website, and eventually, you’ll be able to create a design that people love.

Focus on Long-tail Keywords and SEO

The best way to get your designs on Redbubble is to focus on long-tail keywords. You can find keyword ideas by simply typing a seed keyword into the Redbubble search tab, or you can use a keyword research tool like Google Trends to find keyword suggestions.

In general, you will want to choose keywords that people are searching for but that are not too competitive. You are looking for long-tail keywords, a combination of three or four words. With this technique, you can target a specific audience that will like your designs.

And if you take your time to put these long-tail keywords into the title, product description, and tag section, then you can get a bigger chance to rank your design listings on search engines like Google or Bing.

Upload Lots of Designs

This is simple yet important advice. Uploading more designs means you get more chances to attract potential buyers to your shop.

Where possible, it is best to create several designs for one keyword. I always recommend creating three designs for one keyword… create a text design with one color, then a colorful text design, and then an illustration with a text or just an illustration.

This will give people a variety to choose from.

And because Redbubble is using a smart algorithm to rank your designs on their platform, the design people are liking a lot, will be ranking better on the search pages.

Promote on Social Media

Once you have a few designs up on your Redbubble profile, you should start promoting them. You can promote your designs by posting on your social media accounts, using the share buttons on your designs, or you can use your email list to promote your designs if you have an email list.

I will recommend that you focus your time on only one social media platform. In my experience, Instagram works best.

If you want to use Instagram, you should definitely start a theme page in the same niche as your Redbubble store. This way you are sure you will attract the right audience to the store.

Here Are Some of My Favorite Tools For Print-on-demand

DESIGNS: For getting started, I like Kittl. It is a fantastic place with highly professional templates, that can be edited and used for print-on-demand. In my opinion, it is a go-to place for any person, who wants to make money with POD.

Another of my favorites is Creative Fabrica. They have millions of cheap graphics that can elevate your t-shirt design. If you are not the most skillful designer, then try Placeit or Vexels. These are platforms, where you can find thousands of pre-made t-shirt designs you can easily edit and publish on any print-on-demand platform. I recommend Placeit for beginners and after you get some sales move to Vexels.

I also use a platform called Simplified, which is an all-in-one tool that combines an AI writer, design editor, video editor, and social content planner into one simple platform. I love it. Just like Canva, Simplified has a free version, so you can try it here.

FREE DESIGNS: I love Canva. I’m using this platform almost every day. With Canva, you can create stunning t-shirt designs, they already have an entire section, where you can make your artwork from scratch or use some pre-made templates and edit them. Canva comes with two main pricing plans: FREE and PRO. And if you are a beginner, then I recommend the free plan, it should be enough for you.

SELL YOUR ART – Start selling your graphics, vectors, or photography on Wirestock to save time and make more money. Its Wirestock Program allows you to submit to multiple stock agencies and marketplaces in a single click. It is currently partnered with Shutterstock, Adobe, Alamy, Dreamstime, Pond5, and Depositphotos. Get a FREE account.

SELLING LOW-CONTENT BOOKS – Selling low-content and no-content books on Amazon can be a great way to boost your online income. Im using Book Bolt to do the research, get pre-made interiors, and create covers. And you can try the platform for free.

Take your POD business to the next level. If you are serious about selling your designs on t-shirts, mugs, and other products, you need to sell them on the biggest marketplaces like Etsy or Amazon. You should also sell for the best prices through on-demand fulfillment companies like Printul or Printify.

  1. Does it have any effect if I like my own designs? With the artist account and/or another. If I like every product of the design or only the design itself.

    • There is a theory that more likes on a design will move it higher on the search page on Redbubble. But instead of liking your own design, try to like 20+ designs from different designers. Then wait, until some of those designers will like your designs too and like more of the artworks of these designers. This way, you will be able to make a connection with other members on Redbubble and they will like most of your newly published designs. Repeat this process, and watch the results.
