If you are selling digital products on Etsy, you know the frustration.
With each sale, you are making just a few dollars profit.
I used to be on the same page, earning maybe 60 cents per $2 clipart sale after fees and taxes.
That’s when I realized I needed to find a way to boost my profits per sale instead of just trying for more low-priced transactions.
The simple solution?
Start selling bundles and bigger packages instead of just individual small items.
By bundling and pricing my products at higher values like $5, $10, or more, I could make the same income from far fewer sales.
Packaging products this way gives buyers better value while allowing me to increase my profits per transaction.
It attracts bigger spenders, provides extra income on top of normal sales, justifies higher prices, and ensures I make good money regardless of what the customer buys.
Over the next few months, I’ll be putting this smart bundling strategy into practice.
I’m confident it will allow me to 5x or even 10x my monthly Etsy income without any extra work.
This simple technique is the key to finally earning good money selling digital downloads!
Selling Digital Items on Etsy Is Not So Profitable
As I already mentioned above, I was selling single graphics and clipart images on Etsy for $1.50 each.
After fees, my profit was only about 60 cents per sale.
So, I asked ChatGPT how many of those $1,50 sales I’d need each month to hit different income goals.
Want to know what it said?
- For $100 per month profit: I’d need to sell 167 individual $1,50 items.
- For $200 per month: 334 sales.
- For $500 per month: A whopping 834 sales!
- For $1000 per month profit: Are you ready for this? 1,667 individual $1,50 sales!
Can you imagine having to make 1,600 sales each month just to earn $1,000?
In a saturated market.
There has to be a smarter way.
That’s when I realized I needed to focus on making more profit per sale, not just increasing the number of low-priced sales.
Selling lots of cheap $1,50 items is a quick way to burn yourself out for tiny profits.
My Top Ways to Boost Sales of Digital Products
So here’s my plan to make way more money on Etsy without working any harder:
Instead of selling a bunch of little $2 or $3 items, I’m going to start offering some bigger bundles and packages that cost $5, $10, or even more!
By selling fewer items at higher prices, I can make the same profit with way less work.
For example, let’s say I normally sell bundles of 20 graphics for $2 each. If I combine 4 of those $2 bundles together into 1 mega bundle of 80 graphics, I can sell that bundle for $10 instead of $8.
Customers feel like they’re getting a great deal on a huge bundle.
And I double my profit on that one sale vs. selling the 4 bundles individually.
That’s the power of bundling and packaging your products intelligently.
Buyers love getting a lot of value at a discount. And you earn higher profits per sale without any extra work!
Here are some other ideas for higher-priced bundles and packages you can sell:
The Full Shop Access Bundle
Why not create one giant bundle that gives buyers access to every single product in your whole Etsy shop?
You could charge $50, $100, or more for full portfolio access.
Buyers feel like they’re getting an amazing deal. And for you, that’s a huge windfall of profit from just one sale!
Custom and Personalized Products
People are willing to pay premium prices for custom, made-for-them products.
So get creative!
If you design characters or graphics, offer a listing for a fully custom design made just for that buyer.
You could easily charge $10, $20 or $50 for a one-of-a-kind drawing or design.
Commercial Licenses
This is my favorite idea – sell commercial licenses!
Let’s say someone wants to use your artwork, fonts, graphics, or designs to print on merchandise like t-shirts or mugs to sell.
Before they can use your stuff, make them pay for a commercial license! You can charge $20, $50, or even $100 or more for full commercial rights.
It’s like getting paid forever for the same design you created once.
As you can see, the key is to package and price your products intelligently instead of just selling everything a la carte.
Bundling gives buyers better value at a discount. And those larger package deals translate into higher profits for you on each sale.
Why do you think this bundle strategy works so well?
A few reasons:
- It attracts bigger spenders who have more money. The people buying your $2 clipart bundles are probably on a tight budget. But larger bundles and commercial licenses appeal to customers with bigger budgets to spend.
- It’s extra income on top of your normal sales. By continuing to sell the little $2 and $3 items to the bargain shoppers while also offering premium packages, you’re not sacrificing anything. It’s just extra profit!
- It adds value and justifies higher prices. Nobody wants to pay $50 for a single graphic file. But if you package a bunch of them together or offer commercial rights, it suddenly seems like a fair deal.
- You make money either way. Whether the customer buys your $3 mini bundle or $50 mega bundle, you’re making a nice profit.
I’m really excited to put this bundle and package strategy into practice over the next couple of months.
I’m going to start by combining some of my existing bundles into bigger mega packs and sell them at a discount.
Then I’ll look at expanding into custom personalized orders and commercial licensing for my most popular designs.
I honestly think it could be 5x or even 10x my monthly Etsy income without any extra work!
So, this is my simple plan for making way more money on Etsy without killing myself.
It’s all about smart pricing and giving customers great package value.
